The American Heart Journal
"At doses of 10 to 20 mg per day
policosanol lowers total cholesterol by 17% to 21% and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by 21% to 29% and raises high-density lipoprotein cholesterol by 8% to 15%" |
A recent randomized, double-blind study of 437 patients showed that participants who took Policosanol once a day with the evening meal for 24 weeks lowered their LDL cholesterol from 18% to 25%.
The Policosanol group also increased their HDL cholesterol from 15% to 28%. High levels of HDL-cholesterol may be the most important factor in protecting against cholesterol-induced arterial disease.
It is the HDL molecule that removes plaque from arterial walls.
Policosanol inhibits the oxidation of dangerous LDL-cholesterol. New studies show that oxidation and inflammation are more important contributors to artery clogging than just high LDLs alone.
Policosanol lowers the damaging LDL cholesterol, which can cling to the artery walls when oxidized. At a daily dosage of 20 mg, LDL cholesterol levels typically drop by 25-30% during the first 8-12 weeks.
Policosanol increases protective HDL cholesterol levels. HDL cholesterol levels typically increase by 15 to 25% after only two months of use. Scientific studies show that people with the highest levels of HDL cholesterol have the greatest longevity. Most statin drugs do NOT improve HDLs.
Policosanol doesn’t interfere with sex life as statins often do.
Policosanol reduces platelet aggregation (stickiness) which lowers risk of arterial blood clots.
Policosanol may prevent and reverse atherosclerotic lesions and thrombosis (clotting).

Dr. Michael Murray, author of Encyclopedia of "The results from the clinical studies involving nearly 30,000 total patients clearly demonstrate that policosanol is overall the absolute best answer to high cholesterol levels, whether we are talking about a nutritional supplement, herbal product or drug." |
Policosanol is extremely safe
Elderly persons, diabetics and those with liver damage can safely take Policosanol.
Policosanol DOES NOT affect blood thinning and there is no interaction between Policosanol and blood-thinning medication such as warfarin.
Policosanol has been used in conjunction with a wide range of common prescription drugs with no evidence of side effects.

Cholesterol Check you may want to print off a copy of the extensive research.

Policosanol
The policosanol contained in Cholesterol Check (Cholesterol
Support) contains over 50% octacosanol, a
derivative of a wax from sugar cane plants, found to suppress lipid
accumulation in fatty tissue and inhibit oxidation of LDL cholesterol in the
blood stream. The amount of octacosanol contained in the policosanol formula
used in Cholest-Check™
is the same amount found beneficial in clinical studies in Cuba.
Niacin
Cholesterol Check (Cholesterol
Support) includes niacin in the form of inositol hexanicotinate, which provides all of the exceptional benefits of niacin without the flushing that can sometimes accompany other forms.
Regular niacin causes unpleasant side effects such as itchy, burning skin- the niacin “flush”. Standard niacin may also harm the liver. Inositol hexanicotinate delivers niacin to the bloodstream slowly, eliminating the niacin “flush,” and has not been associated with impaired liver health or other side effects of conventional or “slow-release” niacin.
Niacin is the best agent known to raise blood levels of HDL, which helps remove cholesterol deposits from the artery walls. It has also been shown to be very effective in combination with statin drugs.
Plant sterols are currently being lauded as a natural, cholesterol-busting wonder ingredient, and can be found in several premium-price margarines, milk products and yogurts. Plant sterols can be found naturally in small quantities in many fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, cereals, beans, and other plant foods containing fats and oils.
The cholesterol-lowering properties of plant
sterols/stanols have been known since the 1950s. In recent years, the
medical community has endorsed consumption of plant sterols/stanols as a
safe and effective means of promoting good cardiovascular health.
A recent analysis of published controlled, double-blind,
randomized clinical trials of sterol or stanol esters reported an 11% mean reduction in LDL level.
Edith's Cholesterol Test Results "My cholesterol was 397 and my doctor wanted to put me on Lipitor but I was afraid of the side effects. Gene gave me the research information on policosanol for my doctor to review and although he was somewhat skeptical he gave me the go ahead to give it a try. When I got my first follow up test after 8 weeks total cholesterol had dropped to 240. But the best news is that my HDL cholesterol was up which improved my ratio from 7 to 4.3 which is very good. I am elated and my doctor was pleased and I think a little bit surprised. He said "Keep on doing what you're doing."
In May 2001, the National Cholesterol Education Program Expert Panel,
the U.S. body that provides guidelines to physicians on the management
of high cholesterol, issued new clinical guidelines directing doctors to
advise their patients to consume two grams of plant sterols/stanols
daily to reduce high blood
cholesterol levels. Because their recognized health
benefits and the convenience and ease of use plant sterols have become popular as
an extract included in natural supplements.

Limited Time Offer
Your heart needs both kinds of cholesterol - HDL and
LDL - to stay healthy. But getting the right balance
is critical. Over 50 years of research reveals the
power of HDL to keep your heart healthy and your
arteries clear.
Cholesterol Support supports healthy levels of HDL
cholesterol and helps maintain lower levels of
triglycerides (blood fat)*, which is a known risk
factor for heart disease. Formulated by Dr. Sears
after 5 years of research, Cholesterol Support is
patient tested and proven safe.
