   Policosanol

• The American Heart Journal reported
  "At doses of 10 to 20 mg per day policosanol lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by 21% to 29% and raises HDL cholesterol by 8% to 15%"

• In a head-to-head clinical study Policosanol and ZOCOR were found to be equally effective in lowering cholesterol. but policosanol also increased HDL-cholesterol levels and Zocor did not.
