MSM may help protect you from a heart attack

Your heart will say "thank you" for MSM!

Bernie could hardly get up out of her recliner she had so much pain in her hips.  A blood test revealed that her c-reactive protein (CRP) numbers were very high which was an indicator that she had high levels of inflammation in her body.

Our family care physician, felt confident  that it was an arthritis flare up and we discussed the prescription drug alternatives. Although we were a little hesitant to go the "drug route" Bernie ended up taking Mobic, which has fewer side effects than Vioxx or some of the other anti-inflammatory drugs . Bernie experienced some relief but there was still a lot of pain and after three months stopped taking the drug.

My search for a natural remedy to relieve Bernie's arthritis pain led me to some very interesting information...and a much improved spouse. I had heard about MSM but really didn't know much about it.

As I was doing the research  I began to see how it benefits not only arthritis but a host of diseases where inflammation is the problem.

Here's what my investigation unearthed.

What is MSM?
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring, non-toxic organic sulfur compound found in all living plant and animal tissues. Sulfur is an essential element in human nutrition and a necessary component for making collagen, the primary ingredient of skin, hair, joints, cartilage and other connective tissues.

This inexpensive nutrient plays an important role in the formation of all tissues, especially those highest in protein, such as red blood cells, muscles, skin, and hair.  It is structurally and functionally important to more than 150 compounds in the body including enzymes, hormones, antibodies and free radical scavengers.

How does it work and why do we need it?
In order to remain flexible and healthy, cartilage, joints, and synovial fluid need sulfur-containing compounds. MSM supplies the body with organic sulfur that directly contributes to the maintenance of the integrity of the cartilage within the joints.
It also reduces inflammation and has antioxidant properties.

Inflammation can place pressure on nerves and other tissues, which intensifies pain. It also detoxifies the body and increases blood circulation, which enhances the healing processes. and also reduces the swelling and inflammation that causes pain.

Makes the cell walls flexible and elastic.
It is a small molecule that is bioavailable and capable of passing through tissues. It makes cell walls permeable, allowing water and nutrients to freely flow into cells and allowing wastes and toxins to properly flow out. If the concentration of MSM in the body is too low, the new cells lose some of their necessary flexibility and elasticity.

Relieves pain and inflammation in several ways.
It blocks pain impulses by precluding their passage along C fibers within nerves. These fibers carry messages of pain from a site of damaged tissue in the body to the brain.
In a study conducted by the

University of California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, patients who took 2,250 milligrams of MSM daily for six weeks reported an 80 percent reduction in arthritis symptoms.

What are the health benefits of MSM?

  • There is much ongoing research on this nutrient but it has already gained considerable recognition for its results in relieving arthritis pain, interstitial cystitis, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

  • Relief from joint pain, inflammation, allergies, asthma and sinusitis has been reported.

  • Fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis and Alzheimer's disease and heart disease also benefit from this all natural supplement.

  • It is important for insulin production - hence relates to our blood sugar levels, our energy levels, carbohydrate metabolism and weight loss.

  • Last but certainly not least is the smothering the fires of inflammation that contribute to artery clogging, heart attacks and strokes.

Dosage Information
A daily dosage of approximately 2 grams (2,000 milligrams) is recommended for health maintenance.  Higher doses are typically necessary to experience therapeutic effects. A person suffering multiple allergic symptoms during pollen season may require more than 8 grams per day.

Not all MSM is created equal.
Different production processes yield different degrees of purity. There are 2 methods by which it is purified; crystallization and distillation.

The nutrient purified by distillation uses heat instead of water to separate the by-products and impurities of the manufacturing process. Distillation, a more cost intensive process, ensures that the final product contains only pure MSM.

Crystallization is a lower cost process, but increases the risk of producing an impure product. Purity achieved by crystallization depends on the quality of the local water and other materials used in the manufacturing process. A crystal inherently contains occlusions where these water-based impurities can become entrapped.

Gene

I'm Gene Millen. In 1990, at age 59, a heart surgeon, sawed open my chest and stitched in bypasses to six of my favorite heart arteries.

It wasn't as much fun as you might think...and propelled me into a new career, with the mission of helping others avoid my mistakes...and to learn how keep a heart attack and stroke at bay.

Are you confused by conflicting claims and media hype about heart disease? Who wouldn't be? National author and fitness consultant, James Rippee says it better than I could.

“We have too much knowledge, too much media exposure to ‘breakthroughs and controversies’. What we need is more common sense!"

Fortunately there is one voice of reason crying in the wilderness of main stream gobbledygook...Dr. Al Sears.

I discovered Dr. Sears about two years ago and have been increasingly impressed with his knowledge and his natural approach to cholesterol and heart disease.

Dr. Sears has a very successful medical practice in Florida and a remarkable track record. He has produced results for thousands of people from around the world.

I've learned an amazing amount of information from Dr. Al and recommend that you take a look at his book, The Doctor's Heart Cure. Just click here to discover how you can dramatically reduce your risks of having a heart attack or stroke.

PS:

I turned age 77 recently and my heart and brain are working just fine (contrary to what some my friends opine.)

Since my "brush with death", in 1990, I have worked with hundreds of people as owner of the Vital Life Health and Wellness Center and most recently as Fitness Director of a retirement community in the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley of California.

I've know for a long time that what benefits the heart is also good for the brain, but it was only recently that I discovered that we can build new brain cells (neurons) and rejuvenate aging memories by becoming active in brain fitness.

An easy and fun way to do this is with brain fitness programs. There are a lot of brain games on the market but not many that have been tested and proven to work.

I really like the Happy Neuron games for several reasons.

Happy Neuron's entertaining games are fun and scientifically developed to challenge several areas of your brain and keep it improving.

The comprehensive program stimulates your attention, language, memory, visual-spatial and executive function skills.

I encourage you to give it try. You've got nothing to lose and with some practice you'll notice that you may even begin to outwit your "forgetter."
